The desire to become a permanent deacon may be influenced by many different persons and factors. It is the role of the Diocesan Director and the staff of the Office of the Permanent Diaconate to be of service in helping a prospective candidate discern this call from the Lord. Therefore, it’s imperative that a prospective candidate be in contact with the Office of the Permanent Diaconate of the Diocese of Marquette, 1004 Harbor Hills Dr. Marquette, MI 49855; Phone (906) 227-9107
The process is as follows:
1. Talk with your pastor first to start the discernment process.
2. The prospective candidate should contact the Director of the Permanent Diaconate.
3. Review discernment materials that will be given to you.
4. Fill out the application.
5. The prospective candidate and his spouse will meet with the bishop and the Director of the Permanent Diaconate.
