CATECHETICAL SUNDAY RESOURCES
This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 15, 2019. The 2019 theme will be "Stay With Us." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

The USCCB offers several resources to assist parishes as they acknowledge their catechists and families in this important ministry in the Church.  Both the downloadable and those for purchase can be found at http://www.usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/how-we-teach/catechesis/catechetical-sunday/index.cfm.

RCIA CANDIDATES MARITAL STATUS
A reminder to Pastors, Pastoral Coordinators and the RCIA team of the importance of determining the marriage situation of the RCIA candidate and the candidate’s spouse which may require an annulment before he/she may enter the Church at Easter. If the candidate or the candidate’s current spouse has been married previously, an investigation into these marriages must be made immediately at the onset of the RCIA in the fall. Annulment applications coming to the Marriage Tribunal after the first of the year cannot be completed by Easter. CHANGE IN 403(b) PROCEDURE - EFFECTIVE AUGUST 30, 2019
We are excited to announce a change in the way employee 403(b) withholdings are submitted. Effective August 30th, 2019, individual 403(b) withholdings will be automatically sent to Prudential by Paycor and Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) at the time of the payroll processing. Participating parishes and schools will no longer have to manually submit contribution records to the Diocese of Marquette. This new service ensures that all parishes and schools maintain compliance with Federal rules pertaining to the timely remittance of employee withholdings.

Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions document (Addendum #6) for more details about this procedural change. Please contact Irene McCauley with any additional questions regarding the 403(b) program at imccauley@dioceseofmarquette.org or at 1-800-562-9745, ext. 135.

403(b) RETIREMENT PLAN MAXIMUM CONTRIBUTIONS
Please be aware the maximum contribution per individual is $19,000, unless the employee is age 50 or over. Members over 50 years of age are allowed an additional "catch-up" contribution of $6,000. Since there still are several months left in 2019, it is a good time to evaluate your individual contributions to your 403(b) plan.  Are you maximizing the amount you can contribute?  Are you sure you will not exceed the maximum contribution amount by year end?  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Irene at imccauley@dioceseofmarquette.org or 800-562-9745, Ext. 135.
