This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 20, 2015, and will focus on the theme "Safeguarding the Dignity of Every Human Person." Those whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. The USCCB is providing resources, both downloadable and for purchase.  You can access this by clicking here.

THINKING OF CHANGING UP YOUR UPCSA CAMPAIGN STRATEGY?
Named after a football defensive game strategy, “the blitz” method of conducting
the UPCSA has been used successfully by American Martyrs in Kingsford for many years. It borrows a few concepts from the popular fall sport. Namely, teamwork (pastor, parish secretary and team of parishioners with a well thought out game plan); and a strategy that proceeds at high speed (the appeal is conducted in just two weekends, and follow up with those not responding happens immediately.) Pledge cards for parishioners not responding immediately are distributed for personal follow at a tailgate party complete with pizza and beverages, and the meeting ends in time to get home to watch the Packers on television! See Addendum #5 for a more detailed description.

FAITHFUL GIVING NEWSLETTER
The summer issue of “Faithful Giving” is now posted on the diocesan website. This biannual newsletter on gift and estate planning tells the stories of people living lives of Catholic stewardship. View it by clicking here.

SEMINARIAN ENDOWMENT CHALLENGE
Progress continues on meeting the $100,000 challenge goal of $100,000 for the new Seminarian Endowment Fund. $65,000 has been raised, leaving $35,000 to go by the end of the year. If the goal is met, Catholic Extension will award a $50,000 matching grant. If you, or someone you know, is interested in hosting a small reception in your area to inform people of the opportunity to invest in our seminarians, please contact Fr. Ben Hasse benjhasse@yahoo.com or Terri Gadzinski tgadzinski@dioceseofmarquette.org.
